Bathroom Cleaning Instructions for Kids
Teach Children How to Clean the Bathroom
I have three kids, and I hate cleaning up after them in the bathroom! My boys seem to have problems with toilet aim, and with all the dirty clothes, sand-filled socks, toothpaste smears, and fingerprints on the mirror, it's always a mess.
Now that they are old enough to help with the cleaning, I taught them how to take care of the bathroom. I'm sharing my ideas here, because I know I'm not the only parent who wants the kids to help with chores. Enjoy!

Here is the list I made for my own kids to use when they clean the bathroom. You might want to make some changes to suit your own family's situation.
- Turn on shower and spray shower walls and tub with water. Turn off shower and spray cleaner on walls and in tub. Wait 5 minutes. Do the next tasks while you wait.
- Spray cleaner on mirror and wipe gently with paper towel, so spots and streaks are all gone.
- Spray cleaner on counter and sinks. Scrub with paper towel or sponge to clean counter, sinks and faucets. If it's very wet, dry with paper towel so it's shiny.
- Squirt toilet cleaner under rim of toilet bowl. Scrub with toilet brush and flush. Rinse toilet brush in bowl, tap off and put away.
- Use cleaning wipe to clean toilet lid, seat, and outside of bowl.
- Put rugs and clothes in hamper. Use Dustbuster to clean floor.
- Go back to shower and wipe shower walls and tub with wet sponge. After the dirt and spots are clean, turn shower on and rinse.
- Put away cleaning supplies and wash your hands. Hang up towels.
- Tell Mom or Dad you're ready for inspection! Good job!

If you'd like to print out the instruction sheet I made, just download it from my Dropbox account. It's free! Click on the download arrow button to get the pdf file, or just click here: Bathroom Cleaning Checklist for Kids
I suggest you laminate it, so it doesn't get wet and smudged. We have ours tacked up on the wall in the bathroom, so the kids can't say "I forgot how to clean the bathroom," and they can't lose the instructions!
If you have any helpful tips to share, please do! :-)
